Rules for bundled payments will likely come before 2013 deadline

The rules implementing bundled payments for Medicare providers will likely come before their 2013 deadline, and will initially focus on acute- and post-acute care, according to Kaiser Health News.

The article states that a large-scale pilot program is to be established to try out bundled payments for hospital services.  The voluntary program is supposed to begin by Jan. 1, 2013, and continue for five years.
