Preliminary report on CUSP project shows dramatic drop in ICU infection rates

Hospitals participating in the On the CUSP: Stop BSI project have reduced their CLABSI rates in ICUs by an average of 35 percent, according to a report by the Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality.

The progress report on the CUSP project also notes that many of the participating ICUs had CLABSI rates below the national mean as a baseline, and were still able to reduce their rates.
The report concludes that many more hospitals could benefit from participation in this project.
