CMS launches Physician Compare website

The Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services has launched a Physician Compare website, with the goal of helping patients find physicians that fit their needs

The website is mandated by the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act, and currently lists information for doctors such as contact and address information, medical specialty, degree credentials, gender and languages spoken. It also shows whether or not a doctor reported specific quality data to CMS.  By 2013, the website will include information on the quality of care provided by the listed professionals.
