Physicians across the nation are teaming up to form ACO’s

Physicians across the country are teaming up to form coordinated care teams, including ACO’s, that the healthcare reform bill promotes.

According to an article in the LA Times, several medical institutions including the Mayo Clinic and Kaiser Permanente have already have formed successful ACOs.

Three of San Antonio's hospital systems are attempting to form alliances with local doctors, who in turn will become salaried physicians of the hospitals.  Some experts are hopeful about these changes, saying that this new unified approach to medicine will help to improve quality and reduce costs.
