CDC not requiring hospitals to report MRSA infections

Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services is no longer is requiring hospitals to submit to data on the Methicillian-resistant Staphylococcus aureus (MRSA) that they previously reported to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. MRSA is a bacterium responsible for difficult-to-treat infections in patients.  CMS cites a “severe burden” on hospitals as the reason for the change.
