CMS issues requirements for reporting central line infections

The Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Service has issued requirements for reporting data on central line bloodstream infection rates to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention's National Healthcare Safety Network beginning in January.

According to a memo from CMS, hospitals participating in the hospital quality reporting program that have ICUs must submit the data quarterly, even if they do not have central-line days to report.
