AHRQ awards millions to prevent healthcare associated infections

The Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality (AHRQ) has awarded $34 million for projects focused on preventing healthcare-associated infections (HAIs), according to a press release by AHRQ.

According to the press release, the goal of the funding is to help improve the quality of care delivered to patients and expand the fight against HAIs in hospitals, ambulatory care settings, end-stage renal disease facilities and long-term care facilities.  To maximize the impact of the HAI investment, AHRQ has collaborated with the Centers for Disease Control, the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services and National Institute of Health to identify research gaps to improve HAI prevention.
