The New Hampshire Purchaser's Group on Health (NHPGH) and the Citizen’s Health Initiative have released a scorecard that enables users to compare the 26 hospitals in the state based on quality and affordability.
According to the web site, NHPGH created the scorecard in response to the need for more information about the cost and quality of health care in NH. NHPGH represents four of the largest public entities in NH, purchasing healthcare for more than 120,000 members. Drawn from CMS data, the online report card assigns blue ribbons to hospitals that earned above-average scores in patient experience, patient safety, and quality of care. Users can compare how hospitals perform on metrics related to myocardial infarction, heart failure, and pneumonia. According to the president of the state's hospital association, however, the report card data leaves out important information on hospital efforts to improve patient safety.
